Voluntary Donations from Employees Given to Social Enterprise 'Goodwill Store'
Over 2,000 Items Including Clothes, Shoes, and Household Goods Collected Through 3 Weeks of Online Participation
A donation ceremony for the 'Hyundai Mobis Employees Goodcycling Campaign' is being held at the Hyundai Mobis headquarters building. Hyundai Mobis donated over 2,000 reusable items through the voluntary participation of its employees.
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Mobis announced on the 26th that it conducted the ‘Employee Goodcycling’ campaign, in which employees voluntarily donate goods to social enterprises as part of its social contribution activities.
This campaign was organized with the purpose of contributing to resource recycling and providing jobs for people with disabilities. It was conducted in a non-face-to-face donation format over three weeks, from the 29th of last month to the 20th of this month.
Employees who participated in the campaign registered their donations online and then used a courier pick-up service to deliver the goods to the social enterprise Goodwill Store. Over 2,000 items were collected during the three weeks, demonstrating employees’ strong interest in environmental protection and supporting workers with disabilities.
The items donated by Hyundai Mobis employees will go through a commercialization process and be sold at Goodwill Store outlets. All proceeds from sales will be used to provide jobs and salary support for employees with disabilities working at the stores.
Goodwill Store is a social enterprise that creates jobs and generates earned income for people with disabilities by receiving unused goods donated by companies or individuals and selling them. Currently, about 260 people with disabilities work at 12 stores nationwide.
Hyunbok Lee, Executive Director of Hyundai Mobis ESG Promotion Office, said, “Thanks to the high interest of employees in environmental protection and social minorities, we were able to successfully carry out this campaign,” and added, “Hyundai Mobis will continue to practice various social contribution activities to achieve sustainable corporate growth and create social value.”
