SSG.com Limited Sale of 'Seola Peach' Available in Early Winter

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] SSG.com, which has been holding the 'Korea SSG Day' event since the 25th, announced on the 26th that it has signed an exclusive contract with the farm that harvested the country's first 'Seola Peach' and started selling it.

SSG.com purchased all of the Seola Peach in three types: 2-pack (over 350g, 24,800 KRW), 4-pack (over 250g, 34,800 KRW), and 6-pack (over 200g, 29,800 KRW), preparing a limited quantity of 2,000 packs. They can be purchased through 'dawn delivery' and 'SSG delivery' in Seoul and the metropolitan area.

Named after the character 'Seol (雪)', meaning snow in winter, Seola Peach carries the meaning of 'eating it while welcoming the first snow.' It is a fruit boasting a crisp texture similar to white peaches and a high sweetness level with an average of over 20 Brix (a unit measuring the sugar content in fruit). It is a variety harvested from late October to early December, after the general peach harvest season in summer. Currently, there is only one farm cultivating it in Korea, making the quantity limited and rare.

Considering the diverse customer needs for taste, SSG.com continuously discovers and introduces premium exotic fruits. Products with higher sweetness and improved quality compared to existing varieties tend to be more favored by customers.

In particular, 'Danmato,' which maximizes sweetness by adding 'stevioside' extracted from the sweet plant stevia during cultivation, has shown high popularity since its launch in December 2019, selling over 800,000 packs to date. Other products being sold include 'Candy Heart Grapes,' which are as sweet as candy, 'Jeju Ruby Gold Kiwi,' with over 20 Brix sweetness and red flesh inside, and 'Pordan Chestnuts,' which can only be harvested 3-4 days a year and have easily peelable skins.

During the Korea SSG Day event running until the 31st, SSG.com is selling not only Seola Peach but also 'The Sweet Jujube Cherry Tomato' Danmato at a 40% discount for 5,340 KRW. On the 27th, they will sell 1,000 boxes of Shine Muscat at an 80% discount for 7,690 KRW for one day only.
