[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it will operate the Eco Police University for the Housewives' Eco Police, a citizen-led environmental awareness improvement council.


According to the city, since the end of June, about 300 housewives' Eco Police have played a pivotal role in citizen-led environmental awareness improvement through activities such as environmental cleanup, online and offline promotion and communication, and reporting illegal dumping areas.


Earlier, the city recruited students for the Eco Police University for ten days starting from the 1st, and the five-week educational course will be conducted until November 24.


The curriculum is themed "Learning (Education), Feeling (Sense), and Going Together (Sense) with the Environment," and includes environmental-related courses such as Zero Waste Minimal Life, Upcycling, Environmental Humanities through Films, as well as photography techniques and SNS experts to support the activities of the Housewives' Eco Police.


At the entrance ceremony of the Eco Police University, Namyangju Mayor Jo Gwang-han said, "It is necessary to approach environmental protection in various ways so that citizens continuously take interest in environmental issues and practice environmental protection," adding, "This new attempt called Eco Police University is expected to have a positive influence and synergy effect on neighbors."
