Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Promotes Post-Management for Fire-Free Safe Village

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Seobu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chief Yang Young-gyu) conducted follow-up management on the afternoon of the 25th to create a safe environment in the Shinyong and Mahyeon villages, which were designated as fire-free safe villages.

The "Fire-Free Safe Village" is a system designated and managed to minimize residential fire damage by implementing various fire safety measures in natural villages densely populated with detached houses. Thirteen natural villages in the Seo-gu area have been selected.

For the designated villages, follow-up management includes ▲replacement and distribution of old powder fire extinguishers and standalone smoke detectors ▲basic fire safety education such as how to use fire extinguishers ▲free basic safety inspections ▲removal of fire risk factors around the village ▲additional distribution of gas timer cocks to fire-vulnerable households such as elderly living alone.

Yang Young-gyu, Chief of Seobu Fire Station, said, “We will implement safety measures for various targets to prevent fire safety blind spots in the Seo-gu area.”
