[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion poll showed that President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his national administration has risen back to the 40% range after a week.

On the 25th, Realmeter, a public opinion polling agency, conducted a survey commissioned by YTN from October 18 to 22 targeting 2,517 voters aged 18 and older nationwide. In the third week of October's national administration approval rating, the response that President Moon is "doing well in national administration" rose by 0.8 percentage points from the previous survey to 40.0% (22.2% very well, 17.8% fairly well).


The negative response that the "national administration is being poorly managed" was 56.7% (41.6% very poorly, 15.1% fairly poorly), down 1.5 percentage points. The "don't know/no response" category increased by 0.9 percentage points to 3.4%. The gap between positive and negative evaluations stood at 16.7 percentage points, maintaining a double-digit difference for 12 consecutive weeks.


By region, approval ratings rose in Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (31.0%→33.8%), Daegu·Gyeongbuk (19.7%→21.6%), and Daejeon·Sejong·Chungcheong (37.7%→39.4%), while it slightly declined in Gwangju·Jeolla (70.1%→62.3%).


By age group, approval increased among those in their 20s (30.8%→34.7%) and decreased among those in their 60s (30.1%→27.8%).


This survey was conducted using a mixed method of 10% wireless telephone interviews, 80% wireless, and 10% landline automated responses, with random digit dialing sampling frames combining 90% wireless and 10% landline phones. The response rate was 5.6%, and the sampling error was ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
