Secured 2.2 Billion Won Project Budget...
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 24th that it has secured 2.2 billion KRW in project funds after being selected for the public and national childcare center construction support project hosted by the Financial Industry Public Interest Foundation.
This project was prepared as part of the work-family balance initiative to improve the quality of childcare services and create a safe and pleasant childcare environment.
By March 2023, a total of 2.6 billion KRW will be spent, including 1 billion KRW from the Financial Industry Public Interest Foundation, 1.2 billion KRW from national and city funds, and 400 million KRW from district funds, to rebuild the 35-year-old public Munhwa Childcare Center.
After reconstruction, Munhwa Childcare Center will increase its capacity from 125 to 130 children and operate as an integrated childcare center where both general children and children with disabilities can attend together.
Meanwhile, Buk-gu has been selected for the public and national childcare center construction support project for three consecutive years, moving one step closer to achieving the government’s national agenda of “40% utilization rate of public and national childcare centers.”
In particular, Buk-gu was selected in the Hana Financial Group public and national childcare center support project competitions in 2019 and 2020, investing a total of 5.1 billion KRW to complete the reconstruction and relocation of Jeunghung Childcare Center. The Taebong Childcare Center project is also underway, aiming to open in March 2023.
District Mayor Moon In said, “We will continue to do our best to expand public childcare centers and build public childcare infrastructure to strengthen the public nature of childcare and provide high-quality services.”
