Jeju Province announced on the 24th that a person in their 40s with no underlying conditions died on the 23rd while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Jeju City after receiving the Moderna vaccine.

The deceased in their 40s received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on the 17th of last month and the second dose of the same vaccine on the 19th.

However, on the 21st, they were hospitalized complaining of chest pain and received treatment, and died four days later on the 23rd.

Jeju Province has launched a basic epidemiological investigation to determine whether there is a causal relationship with the vaccine administration.

In Jeju, the vaccination completion rate as of the 23rd is 68.1% (459,456 people) compared to the resident population (674,635 people). Jeju Province expects the vaccination completion rate among residents to exceed 70% by the end of this week at the latest.
