[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Former Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee Nak-yeon has agreed to serve as the standing advisor to presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung's campaign committee.
On the afternoon of the 24th, at a teahouse in Jongno, Seoul, Lee met with candidate Lee Jae-myung, and according to a briefing by Assemblyman Oh Young-hoon, who attended the meeting, he agreed to the candidate's request to join the campaign committee. The two also decided to explore, through discussions among aides, ways for lawmakers who had participated in Lee Nak-yeon's campaign to join the campaign committee.
Candidate Lee also decided to personally oversee the new welfare policy, a key pledge of former leader Lee Nak-yeon, within the campaign committee. To this end, the campaign committee will establish a first committee directly under the candidate, with the candidate himself serving as the chairman.
