[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun County (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 24th that it held an international aging symposium seeking to promote elderly health under the theme of ‘Healthy Aging in the New Normal Era.’
The symposium was held on the 23rd at the Convergence Center for Biomedical Science at Chonnam National University Medical School Hwasun Campus, attended by domestic and international experts on aging, universities, academic societies, and health, medical, and welfare officials.
Marking its 15th year, the symposium attracted more attention than usual as it was held at a time when new preparations for aging issues are required after COVID-19.
Participants explored strategies and countermeasures for better healthy aging in response to changing times.
In the morning plenary session, distinguished scholars from home and abroad gave special lectures on ‘Healthy Aging in the New Normal Era,’ and in the afternoon expert sessions, in-depth discussions were held on the themes ‘Multidisciplinary Approaches for Healthy Aging: Medicine and Engineering’ and ‘Multidisciplinary Approaches for Healthy Aging: Nutrition, Nursing, and Welfare.’
Participants exchanged opinions on the necessity of policies and promotion plans such as creating a healthy elderly society in an aging society.
Gu Chung-gon, Governor of Hwasun County, said, “Through the continuous holding of the aging symposium, we have activated mutual cooperative research related to aging and laid the research foundation for discovering and promoting national projects.” He added, “Based on the symposium’s achievements, the local industry-academia-research cooperation will discover and promote national projects in the anti-aging field to foster the anti-aging industry.”
This symposium was organized by the Center for Geriatrics at Chonnam National University Medical School and the Chonnam National University Institute of Aging Science, and sponsored by Hwasun County and Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.
