[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju Dong-gu (Mayor Im Taek) Jisan 2-dong Ginkgo Tree Decoration Street Preparation Committee (Chairman An Byeong-rak) announced on the 24th that they held the ‘1st Ginkgo Tree Decoration Street Festival’ starting with the opening ceremony on the 23rd.
This festival decorated the area around the Jisan-dong cafe street and the Jisan 2-dong roundabout, where ginkgo trees symbolizing ‘luck’ and ‘harmony’ were planted, into a decorated street.
In particular, hundreds of owl sculptures wishing for health and happiness, dressed in natural-dyed clothes handmade by village elders, were installed along the decorated street, attracting visitors’ attention.
The festival schedule will continue for the next three months with various events such as ▲ exploring cultural and artistic spaces as local cultural resources ▲ walking along the ginkgo tree trail ▲ viewing exhibition booths of village activity achievements ▲ cultural and artistic performances.
Additionally, there is an exhibition hall featuring woodworking crafts and village enterprise products, which are the results of community activities, along with plays and performances by the Dabok Village performance team of Jisan 2-dong.
Chairman An Byeong-rak said, “Please come out to the beautiful Jisan Amusement Park Ginkgo Tree Road, a beautiful street in Jisan 2-dong, to see the achievements of the Jisan 2-dong village community and feel the late autumn atmosphere,” and added, “We will continue to promote projects that allow Jisan 2-dong residents to actively participate and live healthily and happily.”
