Dongshin University Student Counseling Center Selected for 'Outstanding Talent Development Project for Vulnerable Groups'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dongshin University Student Counseling Center announced on the 24th that it has been selected as an operating university for the "Dream Ladder Scholarship" program, an excellent talent development project for vulnerable groups promoted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute.

The "Dream Ladder Scholarship" is a program that supports students with high academic motivation and growth potential despite difficult family circumstances to grow into outstanding talents, providing support from middle and high school stages through to university admission.

Dongshin University will hold an online mentoring camp until December 20, supporting 25 first- and second-year high school students from the Jeonnam region who are Dream Ladder Scholars with career aptitude counseling and more.

Each student will receive a total of five sessions, including an initial consultation, one test, three interpretation consultations, and one comprehensive consultation.

Through individual psychological tests on personality, emotions, career, and aptitude, as well as comprehensive in-depth counseling based on test results, students are helped to correctly understand themselves and, based on this, identify and further develop their strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and potential.

Due to COVID-19, counseling will be conducted online and non-face-to-face, and tablets necessary for counseling will be provided to the students.

Park Hee-hyun, head of the Dongshin University Student Counseling Center, said, “We will establish a community service system linked to learning, such as career and psychological counseling support for various high school students,” and added, “We will strive further so that the university and the local community can grow together.”
