[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 24th, the Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that the number of new domestic COVID-19 confirmed cases was 1,423. The number of new confirmed cases is 85 fewer than the previous day and similar to the level of one week ago.

The daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four digits for 110 consecutive days since the beginning of the 4th wave in early July. It has stayed below 2,000 for more than two weeks since the 9th. Based on the past week, after recording 1,571 cases on the 20th, the numbers have consistently been around 1,500, with a slight decrease likely due to reduced testing on weekends.

By region, Seoul reported 514 cases, Gyeonggi 516 cases, totaling 1,129 cases in the metropolitan area, accounting for nearly 80%. Chungnam and Chungbuk reported 62 and 38 new confirmed cases respectively. New confirmed cases were reported in all metropolitan municipalities except Sejong. There were 28 imported cases.

The number of critically ill patients was 316, down by 11 from the previous day, and the death toll increased by 21 to 2,766 during the same period.
