[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] As the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) continues, new cases of cluster infections were confirmed in various parts of the country on the 23rd.


According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, cluster infections occurred mainly in hospitals and nursing homes in the metropolitan area on this day.


At a hospital in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, where the first confirmed case was reported on the 20th, 12 additional cases were confirmed, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 13, including 8 staff members.


At a hospital in Gangdong-gu, Seoul (second case), 3 additional confirmed cases were found during contact tracing, raising the total number of related confirmed cases to 25, including 14 staff members.


In the cluster infection case at a market in Jongno-gu, Seoul, 18 more people tested positive, bringing the total number of related confirmed cases to 170.


Regarding the nursing home in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province (third case), 13 additional cases were found since the first confirmed case on the 13th, totaling 14 confirmed cases.


Meanwhile, examining the infection routes of 20,561 confirmed cases reported over two weeks since the 10th, 48.0% were found to have been infected through contact with previously confirmed cases. Infection route investigations are ongoing for 34.5% of the cases.
