[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid a series of petitions complaining about side effects of COVID-19 vaccines, a woman has now come forward claiming she is losing her eyesight after receiving the Janssen vaccine and expressing her frustration.

On the 21st, a petition titled "I am losing my eyesight after receiving the Janssen vaccine" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board. As of 4:30 PM on the 22nd, the petition had received 891 signatures.

The petitioner, who identified herself as an ordinary housewife, said, "After struggling to have my 5-year-old daughter, I was spending happy days with her. Then misfortune came to me," adding, "During these difficult times due to COVID-19, swept up by the national atmosphere encouraging vaccination, I received the Janssen vaccine. Afterward, my vision gradually started to blur, and now I am also experiencing symptoms of chest tightness."

She continued, "I can’t even distinguish the kindergarten bus my child gets on and off," and "I feel so depressed that I want to die."

She also stated, "When I received an eye examination, I was diagnosed as 'unable to measure vision' and was given a referral to a university hospital. After receiving treatment and tests at the university hospital, I was told it is difficult to prove causality with the vaccine."

The petitioner expressed her frustration, saying, "I used to be able to drive, but now I cannot drive anymore. I never had any vision problems before, and I was a mother who could immediately read my daughter’s expressions. But now, even when my daughter calls me, I can’t tell if she is about to cry or laughing?I have become a foolish mother."

Furthermore, she said, "My entire life changed in an instant after vaccination. It is miserable to have to live like this from now on. Why must I live such a hard life after receiving the vaccine recommended by the country?" and "As my eyesight gradually deteriorates, I want to capture my daughter’s image in my eyes for even one more day."

Earlier, on the 14th, a petition was posted claiming that a wife was gradually losing her eyesight after receiving the Pfizer vaccine, which caused a stir.

In a petition titled "A family’s happiness was shattered by the Pfizer vaccine," the petitioner stated, "On the day after my wife received the Pfizer vaccine on the 1st of last month, distortion of vision was confirmed in her left eye."

He added, "(My wife) says the faces of the children look distorted like goblins and is afraid to open her eyes," and "My heart breaks as I can only watch my wife crying out in despair and fear."

Additionally, the petitioner urged for ▲ the development of tests to verify side effects and cooperation/support to establish compensation plans, and ▲ measures to be prepared for people reluctant to get vaccinated due to underlying diseases or health reasons.
