[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Jang Sung-min predicted on the 22nd that only a "thorny path" lies ahead for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea.
Former lawmaker Jang stated on social media (SNS), "I am curious about what will happen if candidate Lee resigns from his gubernatorial position after the national audit," adding, "I see no blossoming path for candidate Lee, only a thorny road."
He questioned, "If candidate Lee throws away his gubernatorial position, will the prosecution immediately summon him?" and then asserted, "Regardless of the reason, the district prosecutor publicly stated that candidate Lee is also under investigation. Given that, Lee's summons by the prosecution is inevitable."
He also pointed out the uncertain schedule of meetings with former Democratic Party leader and presidential primary competitor Lee Nak-yeon, as well as President Moon Jae-in. He criticized, "What political gain would President Moon have in meeting candidate Lee amid demands for a special prosecutor investigation into the Daejang-dong scandal?"
Additionally, former lawmaker Jang remarked, "Why has the currently quiet prime minister suddenly appeared on broadcasts and started giving interviews to the media?" He predicted, "Is it possible that a summons from the prosecution will arrive just as candidate Lee resigns and begins to take action?"
Furthermore, former lawmaker Jang claimed, "There are said to be two cards as Plan B, a contingency plan being considered within the deep ranks of the ruling party for after candidate Lee Jae-myung." He explained, "One is a contingency plan to present an alternative figure following candidate Lee, who is the core of the Daejang-dong corruption gate, and the other is that the ruling party's core has secured several more nuclear bomb-level explosives beyond the Daejang-dong scandal that could dismantle candidate Lee."
However, former lawmaker Jang did not provide further details on what these explosives beyond the Daejang-dong scandal might be.
