[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Hanwha Systems announced on the 22nd that it has obtained the 'FACE' compliance certification for avionics technology standards from the 'Open Group,' a consortium that establishes international technology standards, becoming the first domestic company to do so.

FACE compliance is a quality certification for avionics software functionality, portability, safety, reliability, interoperability, and transferability. The Open Group's FACE consortium establishes open technology standards for military aviation platforms, and verification agencies designated by this consortium independently conduct technical verification and evaluation. The Open Group consists of the U.S. government, U.S. military, and global aerospace and defense companies such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing.

Hanwha Systems independently developed software that configures input/output interfaces for transmitting and receiving aircraft data and became the first in Korea to pass the FACE technology standard compliance certification. It is the second in Asia after Taiwan's ADLINK. Worldwide, a total of 13 companies, including Raytheon, Honeywell, and Collins Aerospace, have registered products certified for FACE technology standard compliance. Among them, except for ADLINK, all 12 companies are U.S.-based aerospace defense specialists.

Yang Tae-ho, head of Hanwha Systems' Aerospace Research Institute, said, "Obtaining this certification is a good example that proves Hanwha Systems' global technological competitiveness in the avionics field," adding, "The self-developed avionics input/output service software is installed in Hanwha Systems' avionics equipment, replacing core aviation software products from overseas and is expected to contribute to improving the performance of domestic avionics equipment."
