[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, plans to hold a rich and diverse cultural and artistic event to comfort residents weary from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) this autumn.

The autumn cultural and artistic event relay, hosted by 10 cultural and artistic organizations, offers a variety of attractions with diverse themes and forms of expression. Starting with the '2021 Gyeongnam Invitational Art Exhibition' and continuing until the 'Geochang National Arts Festival' on November 13, various cultural and artistic events will be held over approximately two months.

Through this event, attendees can experience the excellence of our culture with pungmul madang pungut (traditional Korean folk percussion performance) and appreciate works by artists active in Gyeongnam.

Additionally, a competition showcasing the Nongak (traditional Korean farmer's music) performances by 17 senior Nongak teams from the Gyeongnam Cultural Center, who have practiced diligently, will be held. Other events such as one-person plays, peace and human rights lectures, gugak (traditional Korean music) performances, saxophone and cello ensembles, and violin solos are also awaiting great interest from Geochang residents.

Jo Ho-kyung, Director of the Culture and Tourism Division, stated, “To revitalize the local art scene that has been subdued due to COVID-19, we invited artists not only from Geochang but also those based in Gyeongnam to provide an opportunity to showcase the spirit of art and to deliver warmth to the hearts of our residents.”
