30.6 Billion Investment... Expansion of Erosion Control Facilities Focused on Landslide-Prone Areas
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 21st that it has secured a budget of 30.6 billion KRW for the 2022 erosion control projects.
This is a 62% increase compared to this year's budget of 18.9 billion KRW.
Of this, 21.4 billion KRW is from the national government, and 9.2 billion KRW is from local government funds.
Accordingly, Jeonbuk Province has decided to accelerate the implementation of projects such as erosion control dams in landslide-prone areas and forest watershed management projects.
Specifically, the number of erosion control dams, which are highly effective in blocking debris flows caused by landslides from upstream areas during heavy rainfall, will be expanded from 38 to 80 locations, an increase of 42 sites.
In addition, the forest watershed management project, which aims to maximize various forest functions such as forest disaster prevention and water resource conservation across the entire forest watershed, will increase from 3 to 4 locations, adding one more site.
Especially, since the volume of projects next year has significantly increased, Jeonbuk Province plans to promptly carry out preliminary preparations such as feasibility assessments and detailed designs to ensure smooth project implementation and improve the quality of erosion control projects.
Furthermore, the province will focus erosion control projects mainly on landslide-prone areas around residential zones and plans to complete the projects by the end of June, before the monsoon season, to strengthen the stability of landslide-prone areas.
