[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Apple announced on the 21st that the new iPad Mini and 9th generation iPad will be released in Korea on the 2nd of next month. Online orders will be available from that day.
The new iPad Mini will be available in colors such as ▲Pink ▲Starlight ▲Purple ▲Space Gray. It features a larger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display compared to its predecessor, while maintaining a compact size with thinner bezels. It offers 500 nits of brightness, wide color gamut support, anti-reflective coating, and front lamination technology, enabling clear image and video display.
Additionally, it is equipped with the A15 Bionic chip as its application processor (AP), improving performance by 80% compared to the previous generation. Advanced machine learning features powered by a 16-core Neural Engine are twice as fast as the previous generation. Real-time text translation is now available in a total of seven languages.
The fingerprint sensor, 'Touch ID,' is integrated into the top power button. It adopts a USB-C type port. It supports the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, which can be magnetically attached to the iPad Mini for wireless charging and pairing.
The 9th generation iPad has replaced its AP with the A13 Bionic chip used in the iPhone 11. The central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and Neural Engine performance have improved by more than 20% compared to the previous model. It features a 10.2-inch Retina display, and the front camera has been upgraded to a 12-megapixel sensor, similar to the iPad Pro released earlier this year. It comes in two colors: ▲Space Gray ▲Silver, and supports the 1st generation Apple Pencil. The charging port remains a Lightning cable.
The price starts at 649,000 KRW for the iPad Mini and 449,000 KRW for the 9th generation iPad. For cellular models that support mobile communication, the new iPad Mini supports 5G, while the 9th generation iPad supports up to LTE only.
