Korea Information Broadcasting and Communications Federation, 'Korea ICT Innovation Awards' Ceremony

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Korea Information Broadcasting and Communications Alliance announced on the 21st that it held the ‘2021 Korea ICT Innovation Awards’ to honor companies and contributors who have contributed to national economic development through ICT convergence and utilization.


The Korea ICT Innovation Awards began in 1999 as the ‘Excellent Cyber Mall Award’ and has established itself as a representative government award in the ICT field, recognizing organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to ICT convergence and utilization. This year, due to COVID-19, no separate award ceremony was held, and commendations were given to 20 organizations and 13 contributors for their contributions to the development of the ICT convergence industry and the dissemination and expansion of technology. The award process received a total of 90 nominations (40 organizations, 50 individuals) from January 20 to May 31. After document screening and final evaluation, 13 Minister’s Commendations and 7 Special Commendations from the organizing body were selected in the organization category, and 13 Minister’s Commendations were selected in the contributor category.


Anse Technology, selected as the winner in the organization category, is a company whose main business areas include airports, railroads, ports, architecture, smart cities, ITS, and system integration. It was recognized for enhancing Korea’s information and communication status by exporting ICT convergence engineering technology to 19 countries overseas. Lee Youngwoo, CEO of HCN C, selected as the winner in the contributor category, was recognized for his contribution to strengthening industrial competitiveness by integrating smart factory systems and related industries with ICT, such as establishing robot automation for electric vehicle parts lines, resulting in cost reduction and productivity improvement for companies.


A representative of the Korea Information Broadcasting and Communications Alliance stated, “Although the economic downturn continues due to COVID-19, the scope of ICT convergence and utilization is accelerating across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, and services. Especially in the era of intelligent informatization, promoting the convergence of the ICT industry with other industries will elevate national economic development to the next level,” emphasizing the roles of awardees and related industry workers.
