Mentioning the Informant, Lee Jae-myung's Close Aide Called Before Yudong-gyu's Search
"Doesn't Lee Jae-myung Remember Who Told Him About Yudong-gyu's Poisoning Rumor?" Raises Doubts
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Won Hee-ryong, former governor of Jeju Province and a presidential primary candidate of the People Power Party, claimed on the 21st that Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, made a "fatal mistake" by revealing the ‘poisoning’ of Yoo Dong-gyu, former planning director of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, during the Gyeonggi Province audit.
On the same day, former Governor Won appeared on CBS Radio’s "Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show" and introduced his analysis of Lee’s remarks made during the audit in his capacity as governor of Gyeonggi Province. He said, "Lee’s disclosure of Yoo’s poisoning was a fatal mistake," and explained, "Lee’s intention was primarily to emphasize that ‘Yoo had distanced himself from Lee for about a year,’ and that ‘the bribery and dealings with contractors were due to Yoo’s family issues, specifically divorce problems. The bribery and involvement with money were not related to managing any funds but were personal deviations.’" He added, "To do this, Lee talked about things that were not even asked."
The day before, Lee said at the audit, "What I later heard was that since last year, Yoo had family problems due to divorce," and "There were reports that he was lying on the bed during the search and seizure, and I heard secondhand that he took poison to commit suicide, but I do not know the details at all." In response, Kim Eun-hye, a People Power Party lawmaker, asked, "How do you know that Yoo took poison to commit suicide and was lying down? Only he would know that." Lee replied, "I must have heard it from someone close to me," but added, "I don’t remember who told me."
Regarding this, former Governor Won said, "Before Yoo threw away his phone during the search and seizure, he had been on the phone for two hours," and introduced, "I know who he was talking to through a tip-off, but I cannot disclose it due to the whistleblower’s confidentiality." However, he added, "The person Yoo was talking to was someone who could mediate and calm things down between Yoo and Lee, a complete confidant," and explained, "Yoo was on the phone, writing a suicide note, and was in a situation where he was wavering about whether to commit suicide or abandon me, showing a certain level of threatening intensity to indicate that if he did so, Lee would also be affected."
Former Governor Won mentioned about the whistleblower, "The person who talked with Yoo was seen by someone nearby."
He retorted, "How could Lee have known that Yoo took poison to commit suicide?" and criticized, "Did that genius (Lee) really not remember who told him that someone who could decisively block or open the path to the presidency, or someone who could write a suicide note and lie down to block his path, took poison? Of course, he would remember."
He said, "This is a dish that peels away the shell of fake ability and fake fairness to reveal the true nature of Lee Jae-myung, but the ingredients Lee himself provided were too insufficient," and added, "Ingredients were needed, but they were sufficiently secured through the audit."
