'My Genesis' App Also Wins Main Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Genesis brand announced on the 21st that its electric vehicle concept car, Genesis X, won the Best of the Best award in the Mobility & Transportation category of the Design Concept division at the '2021 Red Dot Award' hosted by the North Rhine-Westphalia Design Center in Germany.
The Red Dot Award, one of the world's top three design awards, announces winners each year in three categories: Product Design, Brand & Communication Design, and Design Concept. This year, a total of 4,110 works from 49 countries were submitted in the Design Concept category, and after comprehensive evaluation, 61 Best of the Best works and 259 winners were selected.
Genesis X is a Gran Turismo (GT) concept car based on an electric vehicle, unveiled by Genesis last March. It applies the brand's core design element, the 'Two Lines,' throughout the vehicle's interior and exterior as well as on the electric charger, demonstrating the design direction for future electric vehicle models.
The front of Genesis X creates a low and wide appearance through the harmony of the shield-shaped crest grille and the two-line headlights that pass through the wheel arches, and it gives a strong impression by applying a dual-structure bumper. In particular, the quad lamps reflecting the two-line design symbolizing Genesis are said by the company to well represent Genesis's advanced design and technology.
The interior reflects a driver-centric design with a cockpit shape that envelops the driver with all controls and displays, emphasizing the Korean aesthetic element of 'beauty of empty space.' Additionally, Genesis X utilizes upcycled materials, such as a new concept material made by recycling unused vehicle leather, applied to the seat belts, parts of the steering wheel, and airbag covers.
Luke Donkerwolke, Vice President of Genesis, said, "The noble elegance felt in the Genesis X concept reveals a harmony of sculptural beauty and dynamic proportions," adding, "We aimed to embody the future vision that Genesis pursues in automotive design."
Lee Sang-yup, Executive Vice President in charge of Genesis Global Design, stated, "Genesis X sought to deliver a unique experience through Genesis's identity of the two lines and the ultimate dynamic elegance, which is the design philosophy of Genesis," and added, "This award is the result of the passion and effort of designers and engineers to realize the dream of showcasing the essence of luxury design that Genesis pursues."
Meanwhile, in the Brand & Communication category of the Red Dot Award announced on the 8th, 'My Genesis,' a personalized mobile service application for smart vehicle management, won the winner award.
