[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Mart has selected 'lamb meat' as one of the key categories in its livestock section this year, strengthening its competitiveness in fresh food.


Lotte Mart announced on the 21st that sales in the lamb meat category in the first half of this year increased by 367.8% compared to the same period last year. As the second year of COVID-19, a culture of enjoying convenient and unique foods at home has become a trend. Along with this, consumption focused on SNS certification and self-satisfaction rather than cost-effectiveness has spread, leading to increased demand for unique livestock products, especially lamb meat, centered on the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z).


Lotte Mart stated, "To keep up with the demand for unique livestock products and unique steaks, we are continuously launching new lamb products," adding, "We are striving to lead market trends by operating refrigerated standardized products suitable for home parties and camping food." Last Chuseok, they also introduced the 'Australian Clean Lamb Steak Set,' consisting of lamb French rack and T-bone steak, as a holiday gift set for the first time.


Lotte Mart said it handles lamb meat that is raised on natural Australian pastures, known for its excellent meat quality and flavor. They carefully select lambs under 12 months of age and maintain freshness by 100% air direct shipment.


From today until the 27th, Lotte Mart is holding a 20% discount event on all lamb meat products for L.Point members. They are offering discounted sales of the 'Australian Lamb French Rack,' a premium cut mainly used in hotels and fine dining restaurants. The 'French Rack' is a unique steak cut with excellent taste and elegant appearance, suitable for camping and home parties. The 'Australian Lamb Shoulder Rack' and 'Australian Lamb Neck' are also offered at discounted prices.


To gain an advantage in the lamb meat market, Lotte Mart plans to differentiate by adding 'lamb samgyeop' (lamb belly) to the existing product lineup focused on shoulder rack and French rack, and will also launch large-quantity products tailored to the DIY trend.
