'2021 Semiconductor Expo' Held at COEX from 27th to 29th... "Largest Scale Ever"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association announced on the 20th that it will hold the "23rd Semiconductor Exhibition" (SEDEX) for three days from the 27th to the 29th at COEX in Seoul.

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, this event will feature 237 companies that make up the semiconductor industry ecosystem, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, as well as semiconductor materials, components, equipment, design, and facility companies, participating with about 600 booths. This is the largest scale ever.

Samsung Electronics plans to showcase next-generation semiconductor products centered on four solutions: artificial intelligence, data centers, automotive electronics, and mobile. They will introduce more than 10 semiconductor technologies, including DDR5 DRAM using the industry's leading 14nm (nanometer; 1nm = one billionth of a meter) extreme ultraviolet (EUV) process, a 200-megapixel image sensor, and next-generation GAA technology.

Additionally, during the exhibition, the "Samsung Insight Talk" will feature the Memory Division, Foundry Division, and System LSI Division presenting semiconductor technologies and visions.

SK Hynix plans to highlight the importance of memory semiconductor products used in key industries of the 4th Industrial Revolution such as artificial intelligence, big data, metaverse, and autonomous driving at this exhibition. They will display the HBM product line, an ultra-high-speed DRAM used in AI and supercomputers, as well as the consumer SSD "Gold P31" 2TB product.

On the day before the exhibition opens, the 26th, Samsung Electronics Memory Division President (CEO) Lee Jung-bae and Timothy Archer, CEO of the US semiconductor equipment company Lam Research, are scheduled to deliver keynote speeches online.
