Naju-si, Joint 'Child Abuse Prevention Campaign' with Related Organizations Conducted

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 20th that on the 19th, it conducted a joint campaign with related organizations to prevent child abuse under the theme "Naju PumAe-seo Dodam Dodam."

This campaign was carried out simultaneously at the city hall intersection, Bitgaram-dong, Nampyeong, and Seongbuk-dong urban areas, which have high pedestrian traffic and dense child populations, with the participation of about 90 employees from related organizations such as the Naju Police Station, Education Support Office, and Central Region Child Protection Agency.

Participants distributed promotional leaflets containing the child abuse reporting number, misconceptions about child abuse, and the importance of prevention, along with a banner campaign with the phrases "Child Abuse NO · Child Protection YES · Child Happiness OK."

In particular, they actively informed that excessive corporal punishment against children, following the abolition of parental disciplinary rights under the Civil Act in September, is no longer discipline but abuse.

The city plans to designate and operate the period from the 19th to the 25th of next month, the Child Abuse Prevention Day, as an intensive child abuse awareness period.

During this period, intensive promotion for child abuse prevention will be carried out through the "STOP! Child Abuse" pledge relay involving local daycare centers, community child centers, childcare facilities, and elementary schools, as well as sending mobile notifications.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, "We are making efforts for systematic management of child abuse prevention and protection tasks, such as establishing a dedicated child protection team last year, special education for daycare workers, and designating a dedicated hospital," and added, "We will actively carry out campaign activities for child abuse prevention, on-site response, and awareness improvement through cooperation with related organizations."
