[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jeonnam Sinan-gun announced on the 20th that the 2021 Purple Island Aster Flower Festival will be closed early.
The Purple Island Aster Flower Festival, originally scheduled to be held for 23 days from the 8th to the 31st, was taking place on Banwol and Bakji Islands, famous as Purple Islands. However, due to the sudden cold wave in October, the flowers are withering early, leading to the decision to close the festival early.
This decision was made because, although the Purple Island Aster Flower Festival was held as a safe festival applying quarantine rules and limiting the number of visitors nationwide during the festival period, it became difficult to continue the festival as the flowers fell early due to abnormal temperatures not seen in 64 years.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “We apologize to the tourists who wanted to visit to see the beautiful purple flowers as we decided to close the festival early,” and added, “Next year, we will hold a successful festival with more thorough preparations.”
