[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a shipment ceremony on the 19th to commemorate the first export to the U.S. Korean market of grain processed products manufactured by Ssalmongbu, a domestic agricultural product manufacturing and distribution company in Geochang.

The shipment ceremony was attended by the representative of Ssalmongbu, the head of the Agricultural Technology Center, the chief of Wicheon-myeon, and export officials. The products shipped include eight items such as organic rice flour, organic brown rice raw flour, and black sesame powder, amounting to approximately $20,000.

Additionally, this U.S. export is the result of efforts by Gyeongnam Trade and Geochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center to discover new overseas export items. A contract was signed with a local buyer interested in organic premium products, and the products will be sold nationwide in the U.S. through offline stores and online shopping malls, including Los Angeles and nearby cities.

Representative Jeong Jong-jae said, “We will continue to research and do our best to produce high-quality products so that our brand can be trusted and consumed overseas.”

Following this, Lee Byung-joo, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “Taking this export as an opportunity, we will actively discover excellent products in the region and focus on increasing producers' income through continuous overseas marketing.”

Ssalmongbu is a rural enterprise located in Wicheon-myeon, Geochang-gun, which has been directly manufacturing and processing domestic agricultural products since 2001, selling grain processed products, grain teas, cheonggukjang, and sauces.
