"Did This to Newborn Baby" 40s Father Sentenced to Probation for Forcible Molestation of Biological Daughter

"Did This to Newborn Baby" 40s Father Sentenced to Probation for Forcible Molestation of Biological Daughter

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man in his 40s, who was prosecuted for forcibly molesting his underage biological daughter, was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

The 12th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge No Jae-ho) sentenced A (49), who was charged with forcible molestation within a family relationship and child abuse, to 2 years and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension.

He was also ordered to undergo probation, attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures, and was restricted from working at child and youth-related institutions for 3 years.

A was prosecuted for forcibly molesting his biological daughter twice at home in 2017, saying, "I did this to you when you were a newborn," while touching specific body parts.

He is also accused of abuse, including punching his daughter's left cheek because she spoke rudely to her aunt, and telling her to "leave the house" after she received psychiatric treatment and remained expressionless.

It is known that the daughter, after being separated, experienced extreme stress due to anxiety about being abandoned by her father and suffered serious injuries after jumping from the rooftop of an apartment building.

The court stated, "The degree of forcible molestation cannot be considered light, and it is a crime against humanity that can interfere with the normal formation of sexual identity and values, making the nature of the crime severe."

However, the court added, "The victim does not truly wish for punishment and strongly wants to live together," and explained, "It is necessary to create an environment where the defendant can care for or support the victim while engaging in his livelihood."
