It's Okay Even If You're Not Good at Drinking!

The Ambitious Creations of the Two Giants in Wheat Beer, Edelweiss Red Berry & Hoegaarden Ros?e Tasting Review

These days, before the autumn leaves, a symbol of fall, have fully colored, a cold, almost biting wind is blowing. The days of enjoying beer alone at home are increasing. After several months of solo drinking, I now have beers I want to drink depending on the situation or mood. These are the ones that can be a sweet reward for myself after a hard day. With a naturally fruity flavor...! When you want to end your day on a good note by having just one more can of beer, Edelweiss Red Berry and Hoegaarden Ros?e are perfect choices. Let me tell you why I recommend these.

The editor is someone who doesn’t have strong likes or dislikes. So, I try all kinds of beers I’m curious about, such as lager, ale, IPA, stout, etc. Usually, canned beer is often drunk straight from the can, but for the two beers introduced today, I strongly recommend pouring them into a glass first, then fully enjoying their beautiful color with your eyes before drinking.

Edelweiss Red Berry

First, Edelweiss Red Berry. The design is the same as the original Edelweiss beer, but the Alps mountains are tinted with a red hue that stands out.

Edelweiss Red Berry adds the flavors of more than four types of berries to the original Edelweiss, which embodies the purity and cleanliness of the Alps. Looking at the ingredient list, you can see a red berry blend containing raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, and aronia juice concentrate.

The Ambitious Creations of the Two Giants in Wheat Beer, Edelweiss Red Berry & Hoegaarden Ros?e Tasting Review Edelweiss Redberry, which is easy to gulp down like a beverage, has an alcohol content of 3.5%.

When poured, a dense foam rises and lasts for a very long time without dissipating. You can fully enjoy the foam and the smoothness of the beer. The color is a very vivid and clear red, the clearest red I’ve ever seen in a beer.

True to Edelweiss’s reputation for being easy to drink, the beer goes down smoothly. When you take a sip, the complex flavors of pomegranate, bokbunja (Korean black raspberry), cranberry, and raspberry come to mind. If you close your eyes while drinking, you might even think it’s juice. It’s a wheat beer that even people who rarely drink alcohol can comfortably enjoy.

Hoegaarden Ros?e

Hoegaarden, a wheat beer company that forms a twin peak with Edelweiss, has long offered Ros?e beer. Hoegaarden Ros?e is said to be inspired by a Belgian traditional legend where beer was once stored in fruit jam jars.

The can package is a mix of pink and white halves, with raspberries illustrated, showing an intuitive design. The base is the same as the original Hoegaarden beer, with coriander seeds and orange peel added, but it also contains raspberry, apple, strawberry, and elderberry concentrates. The color has a slightly darker red hue?a red with a spoonful of pink added!

Compared to Edelweiss Red Berry, Hoegaarden Ros?e has slightly less abundant foam, and the foam dissipates quite quickly. Also, Hoegaarden Ros?e challenges the common notion that “fruit-flavored beer means almost no alcohol taste.” It successfully brings out the character of both alcohol and ros?.

How to Enjoy

Edelweiss Red Berry is sweeter than you might expect, so I recommend pairing it with spicy or salty snacks. It would be especially good with spicy tteokbokki. Hoegaarden Ros?e is also sweet at its base, but you can taste a richer beer flavor, making it great to drink on its own. I recommend enjoying it on days when you crave a beer that’s not too heavy.
