[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] TheMamma announced on the 20th that it has signed a business agreement with Jeju Black Label, a Jeju-based food and beverage distribution company, for the Jeju food ingredient logistics business.
The two companies held the agreement ceremony the day before at TheMamma's Seoul office located in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Kim Minsu, CEO of TheMamma, and Choi Beomsu, CEO of Jeju Black Label, attended in person and promised strategic collaboration for mutual growth.
TheMamma is a distribution IT company operating the local food ingredient mart shopping app 'MaZa'. It sells food and beverages and other industrial products from franchised neighborhood marts nationwide through the MaZa app and provides same-day delivery service. It also operates directly managed food ingredient marts in Seoul, the metropolitan area, and Chungcheong region.
Jeju Black Label is a specialized company distributing clean food and beverages produced in Jeju Island nationwide. It operates a logistics warehouse of about 7,920 square meters (approximately 2,400 pyeong) with ambient, refrigerated, and frozen storage. It supplies products such as 'Baikal Water,' 'Jeju Yongamsu,' 'Jeju Green Tea,' and 'Yudong Brewing Coffee' to GS25 convenience stores nationwide.
The two companies have established a win-win strategy to supply Jeju specialties such as Jeju tangerines and black pork, as well as the chicken brand 'Cheongjeong Jeju Tamra Dak,' launched through a business agreement between Jeju Black Label, Halla Yukgye Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, and Jeju Pork Export Center, to TheMamma’s franchised marts nationwide. Additionally, they plan to jointly promote a pilot project for 'Mammacar,' TheMamma’s dedicated electric delivery vehicle, in Jeju by utilizing Jeju’s distribution network.
TheMamma plans to expand its regional food ingredient supply business centered on 24 franchised marts located in Jeju, such as Nadri Mart, by sharing Jeju Black Label’s logistics system. The goal is to establish a system capable of delivering fresh food ordered through the MaZa app anywhere in Jeju within two hours.
They also plan to explore a three-party collaboration involving their subsidiary Hotel Enjoy. This includes plans to supply food ingredients and beverages to over 110 hotels in Jeju that Jeju Black Label supplies with bottled water.
Kim Minsu, CEO of TheMamma, said, "Since our directions align, I am confident we can create synergy in a short time. We needed a business partner with a solid system in Jeju, and Black Label is the optimal choice."
Choi Beomsu, CEO of Jeju Black Label, said, "I hope the solid foundation we have built over 10 years in Jeju will also benefit TheMamma’s business. Since both companies have the capabilities to meet each other’s needs, I expect high satisfaction from this business agreement."
