Genesis GV70, Selected as 'SUV of the Year' by MotorTrend USA

Selected by the Most Prestigious Automotive Magazine in the United States

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Genesis announced on the 20th that the GV70 was finally selected as the 2022 'SUV of the Year' by MotorTrend, a leading American automotive magazine.

MotorTrend, regarded as the top automotive magazine in the U.S., evaluates vehicles based on six factors: ▲safety ▲efficiency ▲value ▲design advancement ▲engineering excellence ▲driving performance, through real vehicle tests and thorough analysis.

The SUV of the Year evaluation was conducted on a total of 35 models, and the GV70 was ultimately selected over strong contenders such as the Ford Bronco, Ford Bronco Sport, Mustang Mach-E, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Kia Sorento, and Volkswagen ID.4.

MotorTrend praised the GV70's interior and exterior in this evaluation. The unique hood panel and trunk upper rear lights completed Genesis's distinctive luxury, and the interior also well expressed the specialness of a luxury brand.

Miguel Cortina, MotorTrend editor, said, "The GV70's bold and fresh exterior design impresses with its unique luxury, showing a distinct Genesis character different from European, American, or Japanese vehicles," adding, "The GV70's interior quality surpasses its price and segment, making every part of the cabin feel special."

Additionally, MotorTrend gave high marks to the GV70's driving performance and safety. MotorTrend stated, "While many vehicles lose comfortable driving sensations for dynamic performance, the GV70 is an exception," and noted, "It is impressive that various safety features, including eight airbags, are standard equipment."

The MotorTrend evaluation, recognized as one of the highest honors in the automotive industry along with North American Car of the Year, has gained global prestige due to in-depth analysis and rigorous testing by experts who meticulously test various performances over a long period. MotorTrend selected the Land Rover Defender as SUV of the Year last year, Kia's Telluride in 2020, and Jeep Wrangler in 2019.

Meanwhile, Genesis has elevated its luxury brand status by achieving the honor of G70 being named '2019 MotorTrend Car of the Year' and now the GV70 being selected as '2022 MotorTrend SUV of the Year.' With the GV70 launched in the U.S. market in July this year, Genesis expects this positive review to have a favorable impact on future sales.
