[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Inje-gun, Gangwon Province, and Osnabr?ck City in Germany are holding a symphony orchestra competition wishing for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Inje-gun announced on the 20th, "The 1st Inje International Peace Symphony Festival (Youth Symphony Orchestra Competition) will be held for two days starting from the 26th at the Inje Haneulnaerin Center."

The symphony orchestra competition includes Osnabr?ck City in Germany, where the 'Peace of Westphalia,' a reconciliation agreement that ended the 30 Years' War in Europe, was signed, participating to wish for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The 'Peace of Westphalia' was adopted in 1648, the year that ended the 30 Years' War on the European continent, becoming a symbol.

In particular, students participating in this youth competition received a special peace award from Osnabr?ck City through the efforts of Professor Kim Jeong (Sangmyung University), who is the general director of the competition. This is the first time a special award has been given in relation to the symphony orchestra competition.

Wolfgang Griesert, Mayor of Osnabr?ck, said, "It is very meaningful to be able to participate in the youth symphony orchestra competition, which expresses the peace wishes between the two cities held in Inje-gun, close to the DMZ," and extended thanks and congratulations to Inje County Governor Choi Sang-gi.

Governor Choi Sang-gi responded, "I hope that through this future-oriented and peace-wishing competition, both cities will continue to develop and deepen their friendship and cooperation," adding, "I look forward to holding meaningful events next year and will provide wholehearted support."

Professor Kim Jeong also said, "I am pleased that Inje-gun and Osnabr?ck City have laid the foundation for a music festival through their commonality as peace cities in line with the trends of the international community."
