Appointment of the 6th Deputy Director
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea announced on the 19th that it appointed former NIA Policy Headquarters Director Wonjae Park as the new Vice President and held an inauguration ceremony for the new Vice President at the main auditorium of the NIA Daegu headquarters.
As the 6th Vice President, Wonjae Park joined NIA in 1993 and has served as head of the Policy Research Team, Director of the Informatization Evaluation Support Department, and Director of the Policy Headquarters. He has a deep understanding of digital transformation through national informatization and intelligent technologies. He has carried out national projects such as the construction of high-speed information communication networks, e-government, Government 3.0, and the Digital New Deal.
In his inauguration speech, Vice President Park said, “I feel a heavy responsibility as I have been appointed Vice President at a time when we must successfully implement the goals set by our agency in line with the digital transformation, including revitalizing the data economy, leading the establishment and expansion of hyper-connected and intelligent infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation through intelligent technologies, and leading a digitally inclusive society.” He added, “I will do my best to consolidate the professional capabilities possessed by NIA to prepare for the digital transformation and the advent of the intelligent information society and to contribute to the development of the agency.”
Vice President Park began his first schedule as Vice President on his first day in office. His term is two years, until October 18, 2023.
