[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Committee (Chairman Song Gap-seok) announced on the 19th that it is recruiting participants for the ‘2021 Gwangju Local Autonomy Academy.’
The target number is 70 people, and the recruitment period is from the 20th to 6 p.m. on the 25th.
Through the academy, they plan to discover capable political newcomers and provide systematic education ahead of the 8th nationwide local elections next year.
Applications can be submitted online directly through the news section of the official blog of the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party Committee.
The tuition fee is 300,000 KRW, with a 50% discount for persons with disabilities or youth under the age of 35.
On the 1st of next month, an entrance ceremony will be held in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party Committee, attended by Party Leader Song Young-gil and Gwangju City Party Chairman Song Gap-seok, followed by the opening of the academy.
The local autonomy academy, held under the theme ‘A New Gwangju I Create, The Future of Gwangju,’ will be conducted every Monday from 7 p.m. for two hours until December 20, consisting of a total of eight lectures.
In the first lecture on the 1st, ▲Song Young-gil, Party Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and ▲Song Gap-seok, Chairman of the Gwangju City Party Committee, will serve as lecturers, delivering lectures titled ‘Modern Korean History and the Path Forward for the Democratic Party’ and ‘Contemplating the Future Food Sources of Gwangju and Jeonnam,’ respectively.
Additionally, ▲Lee Kwang-jae, Member of the National Assembly (‘Korean New Deal and Regional Balance Promotion Tasks’), ▲Hyun Geun-taek, Lawyer (‘Wise Issue Analysis and Discussion Know-how’), ▲Kim Jun-ha, Professor at GIST (‘The Age of Artificial Intelligence and Gwangju’), ▲Jung Soo-hyun, Election Commission Officer (‘Understanding Political Relations Law’), ▲Ahn Il-won, CEO of ResearchView (‘Reading Public Opinion Correctly and Innovative Election Strategies’), and ▲Kim Mi-kyung, CEO of Gwangju Women and Family Foundation (‘Gender Sensitivity of Politicians’) will participate as lecturers.
Graduates will be awarded a ‘Gwangju Local Autonomy Academy’ certificate and will be registered in the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party Committee’s ‘Gwangju Democratic Club’ as a special privilege.
In particular, those who attend all eight lectures can fulfill the 16-hour in-party education training required to qualify for recommendation as a Democratic Party public election candidate.
Song Gap-seok, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party Committee, said, “This academy was prepared to discover capable Gwangju politicians who can systematically understand various current issues and national and local public policies and propose alternatives to diverse issues in the local community,” adding, “We look forward to active participation from prospective local election candidates.”
