Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station, Fully Prepared for Mountain Accidents

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Song Seonghun) announced on the 19th that it will conduct special rescue training in the Eodeungsan area for rapid and efficient response to mountain accidents.


Last year, among nationwide mountain accidents, autumn accounted for the highest proportion at 35.2% (3,730 cases).


It was followed by spring at 24.5% (2,603 cases), summer at 23.4% (2,484 cases), and winter at 16.7% (1,776 cases).


Accordingly, Gwangsan Fire Station is conducting training for rescue team members three times from the 13th to the 27th in the Eodeungsan area to prepare for autumn mountain accidents.


The main contents include preparation for hikers' slips, falls, and isolation, such as ▲familiarization with individual action procedures and duties ▲rapid initial search of accident locations ▲rope rescue techniques ▲safe transport training for hikers.


Choi Byungbok, head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, said, “Since mountain accidents are frequent in autumn, we will make every effort to prepare for safety accidents through systematic training.”
