Gwangyang City Library Hosts Lecture by Eunsohol, Author of "5 Beon Rein"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] On the 19th, Jeonnam Gwangyang City Library announced that on the 16th at 2 p.m., it held a lecture for local children and parents by inviting Eun So-hol, the author of the children's book 5 Beon Rein, which was selected as the 2021 Book of the Year, at the Hope Library.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the number of attendees at the lecture venue was limited to 25 people, and for the convenience of citizens who could not attend in person, the lecture was broadcast live on YouTube.

5 Beon Rein, which won the Munhakdongne Children's Literature Award Grand Prize for author Eun So-hol, was selected as the 2021 Book of the Year not only in Gwangyang City but also in several local governments such as Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Pyeongtaek, and Wonju, gaining much love.

During the lecture, author Eun So-hol expressed excitement about meeting child readers face-to-face and shared various stories about swimming that were collected in preparation for the work with the participants.

The children asked many questions, such as why the author decided to write a book about swimming, how the title 5 Beon Rein was chosen, and whether having long arms helps in swimming, communicating actively with the author.

In particular, in response to the author's question, "What is making my heart beat right now? And why?" the children shared diverse opinions, sharing their childlike thoughts with their parents. After the Q&A session, there was also time to receive the author's autograph.

With this lecture, Gwangyang City Library concluded the invited author lectures for the 2021 Gwangyang City Books of the Year in each category: 5 Beon Rein (Children), Wae-yo, Geu Mal-i Eottaeseo-yo? (Youth), and Bap-i Geuriwojyeotda (Adult).

The '2022 Gwangyang City Book of the Year' will be selected in March next year through deliberation and resolution by the Gwangyang City Library Steering Committee from books recommended by citizens, librarians, publishers, and local schools.
