[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyang-hyun] Professors Lee Hyuk-ki and Shin Seok-min from the Department of Physical Education at Gyeongnam National University received the Excellent Paper Award at the '59th Korean Society of Sport Science Conference.'
The Korean Society of Sport Science selects one outstanding academic paper each from the humanities and social sciences and natural sciences divisions, as well as an 'Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award,' based on creative and excellent academic papers recommended by 16 sub-societies.
The outstanding paper in the humanities and social sciences was titled "Analysis of the Value System of Public Sports Clubs for Establishing the Studying Student-Athlete Model: From the Perspective of Means-End Chain Theory."
The paper was co-authored by Professors Lee Hyuk-ki and Shin Seok-min of Gyeongnam National University, Professor Kim In-hyung of Silla University, Adjunct Professor Jeon Won-jae of Daegu Haany University, and Adjunct Professor Jang Seung-hyun of Pusan National University.
The study identifies the value system of public sports club experiences for establishing the studying student-athlete model by applying the 'Means-End Chain Theory' and utilizing the APT laddering technique.
Additionally, this research was conducted as part of a project selected by the National Research Foundation of Korea's General Collaborative Research Support Program. It produced academic discourse on the studying student-athlete model and was highly evaluated as a basis for policy-making to establish an advanced country-type academy elite sports system.
