[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 19th that it is considering filing a complaint against Park Cheol-min and lawyer Jang Young-ha, who reported allegations of gangster involvement related to Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate (current Governor of Gyeonggi Province), to Kim Yong-pan of the People Power Party, on charges of spreading false information.

Han Byung-do, the senior deputy floor leader, held a press conference titled "Condemning the People Power Party's Political Manipulation" at the National Assembly on the same day, stating, "The Democratic Party will conduct a thorough investigation and hold legal responsibility without fail."

Han said, "We will immediately file a complaint against Representative Kim to the Ethics Committee and urge a thorough investigation of related figures, including the lawyer who connected the gangster and the tip-off. Representative Kim brought the gangster's written confession to the audit session and hid behind parliamentary immunity to make groundless revelations. If he was confident in the credibility of the gangster's testimony, he should have held a press conference," he pointed out.

After the conference, he told reporters about lawyer Jang and Mr. Park, "If the parties spread false information without evidence, legal punishment can be sought." When asked if they were considering filing a complaint, he replied, "Yes, we will consider it."

Regarding Representative Kim, he also said, "What was said in the standing committee is protected by parliamentary immunity, but I will strongly call for his expulsion from the Ethics Committee. The Democratic Party will do everything possible within the National Assembly floor."
