[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP) is embarking on the construction of genomic validation data to help promote citizens' health. The data will be used to discover new business models in the bio-service industry in the future.
On the 19th, Incheon TP announced that it will carry out a genomic validation data construction project for the development of lifelog-based services (lifelog refers to storing an individual's life or daily activities in digital space).
This project involves Ewondiagnostics Co., Ltd., Inha University Hospital, and the University of Utah Asia Campus.
Incheon TP will first recruit 500 adult men and women from the Incheon area to participate in this project by the end of the year and begin full-scale lifelog collection. Based on this, they plan to integrate and analyze the genomic validation data and create a database (DB).
The DB materials will be provided for use in research and development (R&D) of technologies for health-related services such as precision medicine and smart farms through the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
Accordingly, it is expected to be a great help for companies in the bio, healthcare, beauty, and medical device sectors to discover new business models.
An Incheon TP official stated, "The genomic validation data to be constructed this time can predict genetic risks for major diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and hypertension," adding, "We will help local healthcare service development companies continue to grow based on the data."
