[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] Yoon Hojung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that the allegation made by Kim Yongpan, a member of the People Power Party, linking Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, to gang involvement is a "clear falsehood," and added, "We will hold Kim Yongpan accountable by filing for his expulsion with the National Assembly Ethics Committee."

On the 18th, at the National Assembly audit session, Representative Kim revealed a testimony from Park Cheolmin, a member of the International Mafia Group in Seongnam, claiming close ties with Governor Lee, and displayed a photo on the screen showing bundles of cash that Park allegedly delivered to Lee's side.

In response, on the 19th at the Democratic Party's National Assembly audit countermeasure meeting, Floor Leader Yoon said, "Through yesterday's Public Administration and Security Committee audit, we saw the bottom line and true nature of the People Power Party. They hid behind parliamentary immunity to conduct a revealing audit," and rebutted, "The bundles of cash shown by Representative Kim were actually a boastful photo posted by the gang member himself in 2018, and that gang member is the son of former lawmaker Park Yongseung, who ran as a candidate for the 18th National Assembly under the Pro-Park Alliance and served as a Seongnam city council member and vice chairman of the city council."

He continued, "Even the gang member who was called a whistleblower turned out to be the son of that party. No matter how much you dig, nothing but the People Power Party comes out," and criticized, "Bringing a gang criminal's testimony into the audit session and throwing out any words relying on parliamentary immunity shows the current level of the People Power Party. Parliamentary immunity is not meant for this."

He added, "Governor Lee Jae-myung faithfully participated until the end despite the opposition party's absurd and unreasonable audit. This audit simply reaffirmed that the Daejang-dong scandal is a People Power Party gate," emphasizing, "As Governor Lee said, the one who received the money is the culprit, and the one who received the stolen goods is the boss."
