Blue House to Hold NSC Standing Committee Meeting This Morning... Likely to Discuss North Korea's Missile Launch (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House will hold a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) on the morning of the 19th, chaired by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon. This appears to be in response to North Korea's unidentified projectile launch into the East Sea earlier that morning.

A Blue House official stated, "The Blue House plans to hold the NSC Standing Committee meeting in the morning."

According to a text message sent by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the press corps around 10:20 a.m. that day, North Korea launched an unidentified projectile into the East Sea. Although the Joint Chiefs did not disclose specific details of the projectile, they usually promptly inform the media when a ballistic missile is detected.

This marks the seventh military provocation by North Korea this year.
