[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 19th that it held the final report meeting for the ‘Wando Health Climate Index Development’ project on the 18th to develop a personalized health management program using weather information.

This project was promoted to collect weather information, calculate the health climate index, provide information to residents and tourists, and offer sustainable marine healing services.

The ‘Wando Health Climate Index’ is based on the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) developed by the German Meteorological Office, collecting Wando’s weather information such as wind speed, ultraviolet rays, precipitation, and air environment to calculate an index usable for marine healing programs (yoga, pilates, Nordic walking, indoor activities, etc.).

The county installed automatic weather observation equipment near Sinji Myeongsasimni Beach to collect weather information, and plans to continuously collect and process information by establishing an AI learning platform linked to the 4th industrial revolution.

Based on the collected Wando-gun weather information and meteorological data, the county plans to analyze health information (body temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, etc.) of residents and tourists to provide a personalized health climate index.

The ‘Wando Health Climate Index’ will be provided through a smartphone app and will be available for free download from all app stores by the end of this month.

In particular, visitors to the Marine Climate Healing Center will receive a smartwatch to check their health status, which can be connected to the smartphone app to receive various services.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “We will develop a marine climate healing program linked to the personalized health climate index to provide marine healing lifestyle health services accessible to everyone,” adding, “It is expected to revitalize the local economy by promoting wellness tourism that combines healthcare and tourism, as well as improving the health of residents and tourists.”
