The App Most Used the Longest by Koreans Is 'YouTube'


[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] In September, the application (app) most used the longest by Koreans was found to be YouTube.


According to the results of a sample survey conducted on domestic smartphone users aged 10 and above by app and retail analysis services WiseApp, Retail, and Goods on the 19th, the app used the longest was 'YouTube' with a usage time of 70.1 billion minutes.


Following that were KakaoTalk with 27.9 billion minutes, Naver with 19.7 billion minutes, Instagram with 7.1 billion minutes, TikTok with 4.6 billion minutes, Netflix with 4.2 billion minutes, T map with 4.0 billion minutes, Facebook with 4.0 billion minutes, portal Daum with 3.7 billion minutes, and Naver Webtoon with 3.4 billion minutes, in that order.


The apps with the highest usage time growth rate compared to the same month last year were 'Netflix' and 'TikTok,' both increasing their usage time by 61% compared to one year ago.


The most frequently used app was 'KakaoTalk,' with 96.1 billion launches. Next were Naver with 20.7 billion launches, Twitter with 12.4 billion launches, YouTube with 12.2 billion launches, Instagram with 8.8 billion launches, Danggeun Market with 7.4 billion launches, Naver Cafe with 7.4 billion launches, Coupang with 5.9 billion launches, Band with 4.6 billion launches, and Naver Webtoon with 4.5 billion launches.


The app with the highest launch increase rate compared to the same month last year was 'Instagram,' which increased from 6.1 billion launches in September last year to 8.8 billion launches this September, a 44% increase compared to one year ago.


The app with the highest number of users was 'KakaoTalk,' with a total of 43.85 million users. Following were YouTube with 42.03 million users, Naver with 39.25 million users, Coupang with 24.03 million users, Band with 20.08 million users, Naver Map with 17.52 million users, Instagram with 17.44 million users, Baedal Minjok with 17.07 million users, Danggeun Market with 16.01 million users, and Toss with 13.04 million users.


This survey was conducted as a sample survey of Android and iOS smartphone users aged 10 and above in Korea, excluding Google and Apple apps other than YouTube, as well as apps from mobile carriers and device manufacturers.
