[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] A 'one-strike out' system will be introduced, whereby approval is immediately revoked if narcotics handling permission is obtained through false means.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 19th that it has announced a draft amendment to the Enforcement Rules of the Narcotics Control Act, which includes administrative disposition standards to immediately revoke permission or approval for narcotics handlers who obtained it through false or fraudulent methods, and is accepting opinions until the 29th of next month.

This amendment was prepared to specify the administrative disposition standards corresponding to the Narcotics Control Act, which was amended and enforced last August to cancel narcotics permissions obtained through false or fraudulent methods. It includes provisions that if it is confirmed that narcotics handling approval, permission (including changes) for narcotics handlers or raw material handlers, or approval (including changes) for medical narcotics items were obtained through false or fraudulent methods, the permission or approval shall be immediately revoked.

Detailed information can be found on the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s official website or the National Law Information Center of the Ministry of Government Legislation.
