On the 19th, Hyundai Home Shopping announced that it had donated 200 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross to support the ‘Hi Campaign’ project for low-income mothers and female adolescents. The donation ceremony, held at Jeongsin Girls' High School in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was attended by Hyundai Home Shopping President Lim Dae-gyu, Korean Red Cross Chairperson Shin Hee-young, and Jeongsin Girls' High School Principal Choi Sung-i.
Since 2017, Hyundai Home Shopping has been conducting the Hi Campaign annually, providing necessary items tailored to the female life cycle for low-income mothers and female adolescents. Including this year’s support amount, a total of 800 million KRW has been provided over five years to 2,000 low-income mothers and 2,000 female adolescents.
The funds will be used through the Korean Red Cross to support low-income mothers and female adolescents. First, 370 strollers will be provided to 370 low-income mothers with a monthly income below 70% of the median income (2.789 million KRW for a family of three) who have given birth since January or are expecting to give birth this year.
Hygiene kits consisting of sanitary pads, underwear, and pouches, usable for six months, will also be provided to 700 low-income female adolescents facing economic difficulties, such as those from grandparent-headed or single-parent families. In particular, this year, free sanitary pad dispensers will be installed in 18 middle and high schools located in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Lim Dae-gyu, President of Hyundai Home Shopping, said, “We are conducting the Hi Campaign to help children and students facing economic hardships grow up healthily, even if just a little.” He added, “We will continue to strengthen customized support projects for marginalized groups to realize social value.”
