SMEC, Secures Equipment Orders Worth Approximately 9 Billion KRW at 'EMO Milano 2021'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Smac, a specialized company in machine tools, industrial robot manufacturing, and information and communication equipment, announced on the 19th that it succeeded in securing equipment orders worth approximately 9 billion KRW at the 'EMO Milano 2021' machine tool exhibition held over six days from the 4th. This figure represents a 180% increase compared to the 2019 EMO exhibition.

This 'EMO MILANO 2021' was held as an in-person exhibition. Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the climate in Italy, a decrease in visitors was expected. However, as the machine tool industry improved, many customers visited the exhibition, which led to equipment contracts.

Through this exhibition, Smac showcased a total of eight machine tools and automation solutions, including two new products. According to the company, newly developed equipment such as the 5-axis machining center 'MVF5000' and the LM-type high-speed multi-tasking machine 'NS2100SY' received favorable evaluations.

The 'MVF5000' is a 5-axis machining center product capable of completing the machining of complex structured parts in a single setup. It is characterized by superior structural rigidity and cost-performance compared to competitors. The LM-type multi-tasking CNC lathe 'NS2100SY' enables high-speed machining and simplifies the equipment manufacturing process, thereby shortening production schedules.

The company explained that as demand for high-speed multi-tasking machines is increasing recently in markets such as the automotive industry, the 'NS2100SY' received many inquiries from the small automobile parts industry. It also received positive responses due to its applicability in the medical device-related industry.

This event is expected to mark the beginning of Smac's full-scale overseas exports. The company's newly developed equipment is designed targeting the US and European markets and can minimize energy consumption and emissions of environmentally harmful substances. Given that the 'eco-friendly theme,' which has recently become a trend, is also suitable, demand for the company's products is expected to increase further.

A Smac official said, "Since Smac entered the European market, it has shown the best boom, which is expected to continue steadily until the second half of next year," adding, "As various economic stimulus measures are being implemented in European countries, we plan to strengthen our sales network and focus all efforts on increasing sales through aggressive marketing."
