[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, sharply criticized the National Assembly audit of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate and Governor of Gyeonggi Province, saying, "He shook the public’s judgment with clownish antics and fully displayed his devilish talent."
On the 19th, Ahn posted on his Facebook under the title "Lee Jae-myung’s National Assembly Audit That Naturally Evokes Admiration and Lament," stating, "As a meticulous crime planner and the ultimate villain, surpassing even the Joker of Gotham City, the public must have naturally felt ‘admiration’" and thus criticized him.
He said, "Even in front of irrefutable evidence of crimes and exposed accomplices, Lee skillfully wielded his complex and unstable inner emotions and frenzied sophistry."
He continued, "The main opposition party, which provided the pretext for the 5 billion won bribery accusation, only exposed its incompetence and immorality more blatantly as it suffered the humiliation of being labeled the ‘People Power Party Gate’ by Lee’s camp," adding, "There was even a reversal where the Lee Jae-myung audit turned into a Yoon Seok-youl audit, with attacks and defenses switching through a ‘water ghost’ tactic demanding ‘Candidate Yoon Seok-youl answer first.’" He further noted, "Candidate Lee lectured and mocked the main opposition party, saying ‘Don’t hide behind parliamentary immunity’ and ‘The National Assembly should maintain dignity,’ overwhelming them."
Ahn said, "It was a confrontation between Candidate Lee, who pretended not to know only the unfavorable facts despite knowing everything, and opposition lawmakers who barked and shouted without preparation while pretending to know everything," adding, "It was a moment when the public’s despair over the opposition’s helplessness naturally turned into lament."
He raised his voice, saying, "The main opposition party must conduct a strict internal investigation regarding the Daejang-dong Gate, proactively confess the suspicions to the public as they emerge, and practice self-discipline by filing complaints and accusations against themselves."
Furthermore, he claimed, "If there was anything gained from yesterday’s audit, it was that Candidate Lee only answered ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t remember’ regarding his relationship with key figures like Yoo Dong-gyu and the details of documents he approved," adding, "He selectively remained silent only about the circumstances that concentrated development profits to a very small number of specific individuals." He emphasized, "Since the thief must have felt guilty, the opposition must dig into these points and hold on firmly during the remaining audits."
