[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Kumyang, a specialized precision chemical industry company, announced on the 19th that it has been selected as the 'Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Branch No. 5 Center,' which supports cooperation among local governments, industries, and universities (hereinafter referred to as Jisanhak), and held an opening ceremony.
The ‘Jisanhak Cooperation Branch Center’ aims to nurture talent tailored to regional industrial demand and create a Jisanhak ecosystem, centered on the Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Center. It is established in local universities, research institutes, and companies to provide close support for Jisanhak cooperation.
Kumyang plans to further strengthen its hydrogen fuel cell business capabilities through Jisanhak cooperation. Through the ‘Busan Jisanhak Branch No. 5 Center,’ the company will carry out ‘corporate-linked hydrogen R&D new planning’ for the advancement of the local community. By linking with the government’s hydrogen fuel cell technology development policy, it will discover and foster new industries and actively contribute to realizing a virtuous cycle structure of hydrogen-related Jisanhak cooperation.
The Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Branch No. 5 Center is located in the ‘Hydrogen Technology Quantum Center,’ which Kumyang is scheduled to complete by the end of 2022. Kumyang plans to collaborate with companies possessing hydrogen-related technologies at the Hydrogen Technology Quantum Center to develop and commercialize the world’s first mobility products. The company explained that with the establishment of the Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Branch No. 5 Center, the Jisanhak collaboration infrastructure will be formed, accelerating the growth of its ongoing hydrogen business.
A Kumyang official said, “With the selection of the Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Branch No. 5 Center, a Jisanhak collaboration infrastructure has been established, making various hydrogen businesses possible. Interest in our hydrogen business is expected to increase further, and we will actively pursue the hydrogen market by strengthening competitiveness through R&D conducted via inter-company collaboration.”
Kim Hyung-gyun, Director of Busan Technopark, stated, “The Jisanhak Cooperation Branch Center is a strategy that enhances the impact by integrating the strengths of existing innovation resource infrastructure with Jisanhak cooperation. While emphasizing the unique characteristics of each branch’s operation, we will actively promote convergence among branches to operate multidimensional and practical Jisanhak cooperation.”
Meanwhile, the company held the ‘Busan Jisanhak Cooperation Branch No. 5 Center Opening Ceremony’ on the 18th. The ceremony was attended by Kim Hyung-gyun, Director of Busan Technopark, Kim Young-bu, Head of the Jisanhak Cooperation Group, Kang Hyo-kyung, Head of the Clean Tech Technology Group, among others. Starting with the No. 1 Jisanhak Cooperation Branch Center, the scope is continuously expanding, and 15 branch centers are scheduled to open within the year.
