[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Sung Kim, the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea at the State Department, stated on the 18th (local time) that he discussed the issue of a Korea-U.S. declaration to formally end the Korean War and hopes to continue these discussions.


On the same day, Kim held consultations with Noh Kyu-duk, Director General for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the State Department building in Washington DC, and told reporters, "I look forward to continuing discussions on this issue and other mutual interests later this week in Seoul."


Kim emphasized that the U.S. is extending a hand to North Korea to resume dialogue, saying, "We do not harbor hostile intentions toward North Korea. We are open to meetings without preconditions."


He also reaffirmed support for humanitarian aid to North Korea.


At the same time, he mentioned the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on North Korea and the advocacy for the human rights of North Korean residents.
