[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is organizing an event to share the achievements of Innovation Schools.
On the 19th, the Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that it will hold a discussion titled "2021 Innovation School Achievements and Student Growth" with Innovation School graduates, parents, and teachers from 3 p.m. on the 20th via the Gyeonggi Office of Education's YouTube channel.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education planned this discussion to evaluate and analyze the achievements of Innovation Schools, which started in 2009 and have been ongoing for 13 years, from various educational perspectives, and to hear directly from students who graduated from Innovation Schools.
Participants in the discussion include ▲ Jeong Jae-yeop, Research Fellow at Gyeonggi Research Institute of Education ▲ Innovation High School graduates Shim Gyu-won, Lee Ga-ram, Lee Cheol-beom ▲ Kim Tae-ho, teacher at Galmae High School ▲ and parent Yang Jeong-yoon.
During the discussion, members will also share outcomes related to school satisfaction, self-concept, teacher relationships, peer relationships, and learning efficacy experienced through Innovation School educational activities.
In particular, the students attending the discussion will present thoughts shared over several years within the group "Kkaji," a coalition led by Innovation High School graduates.
Based on the discussion content, the Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to continue the Innovation School policy direction and expand it into future education.
Kim Beom-jin, Director of School Policy at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, explained, "Recent controversies surrounding the Innovation School policy largely stem from misunderstandings of Innovation School educational activities," adding, "Since 57% of schools in the province will be Innovation Schools in the 2022 academic year, this discussion will be an opportunity for the educational community to better understand and empathize with the Innovation School policy."
